Accu+Plus has introduced Reflex, a porcelain from the Wieland Company of Germany. It is a new look, and a new structure that truly takes porcelain restorations to a new level. There has been zero marketing for this product so it is unlikely that you have heard of the new porcelain. A group of porcelain engineers was brought together to produce a product that is smoother, and far more homogenous than anything that has come before it.
Reliability
In contrast to the competitor's product (right), REFLEX (left) is characterized by extremely homogeneous, bubble free opaque and dentine layers. This results in optimal bond strength.
- No slow-cooling required in general
- Above-average bond strength with all alloys within the indication range
- Safe, simple firing programme
The following lightmicroscopic images demonstrate the density of REFLEX opaque, compared to a similar product from a competitor.

Innovation "Nanoleucite Structure"
Crack-free microstructure containing homogenously distributed, fine leucite crystals.
Many of the crystals have dimensions on the nanometer scale (< 1 µm = < 1000 nm) thus giving their name to the structure.
By comparison, human hair has a diameter of approx. 40,000 nm.
The innovative microstructure of REFLEX offers the following benefits:
- Extremely smooth, homogenous and plaque resistant surface
- Gingiva and antagonist friendly
- Easily polished in the mouth to a high gloss
- Increased fracture strength
The fine, homogeneous distribution of the leucite crystals in REFLEX is documented in the following microstructural images (identical enlargement factor in each instance).
